Red
Sciascinoso
Also called Olivella.
A Campanian red, also called Olivella, grown around Naples and in the hills of Irpinia and the Cilento. It gives soft tannin and simple red fruit, and it appears in the rules of a good number of southern appellations as a minor partner to Aglianico and Piedirosso.
Worth knowing
The name Olivella refers to the berries, which are small and oval like olives. It is one of the grapes that exists in Campanian blends to soften Aglianico, a job that several local varieties share and none of them gets credit for.
