Trebbiano di Soave

Also called Trebbiano di Lugana, Turbiana.

A white of the Veneto and Lombardy that appears in the Soave blend, in Gambellara, and around Lake Garda in Lugana, where it is called Turbiana. It gives citrus, almond and a saline, mineral finish, with acid that holds and a capacity to age that Lugana producers have been proving for twenty years.

Worth knowing

It is the same vine as Verdicchio, which the Marche will tell you is theirs. The names come from three different places and stayed separate long after the identity was established, so the label tells you the region rather than the grape.
