Coste della Sesia DOC

The Vercelli-side twin of Colline Novaresi: the wider DOC that wraps around Gattinara, Lessona and Bramaterra and takes their second wines and blends. The nebbiolo-based reds are taut and mineral, with sour cherry, rosehip, dried herbs, a rusty iron note and firm acid on a light to medium body. Top Gattinara and Lessona estates use it for their entry bottlings, so quality is often far above the price. Rosato from nebbiolo can be excellent here too.
