San Ginesio DOC

A very small DOC next door to Serrapetrona with a similar profile: a still Rosso blend of Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Vernaccia Nera, and a Vernaccia Nera sparkling red made by a single fermentation rather than the three used for the DOCG. The spumante is the fun one: purple foam, blackberry, violet, black pepper and a bitter edge, dry or sweet. Paris Rocchi is essentially the only producer bottling under the name, and surprisingly his sparkling secco has landed in a few US shops through VOS Selections.

Still hunting

I'm still looking for a bottle of this.

If you make San Ginesio, import it, or know who does, the form takes two minutes and I reply to every one.

Can you help me get one?
