San Severo DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
One of Italy's earliest DOCs (1968) and historically a source of bulk white for vermouth and sparkling wine bases, from the vast vineyards of the northern Tavoliere near the Gargano. The bianco from Bombino Bianco and Trebbiano is light, neutral and crisp with apple and citrus; the rosso from Montepulciano and Nero di Troia is medium bodied with cherry, plum, pepper and soft tannin. Volume is large but nearly all of it is sold locally or as IGT, so DOC bottles are scarce abroad.
