Arcole DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
A plains DOC on sandy alluvial soils south of the Soave hills, created mainly to give the local cooperatives a step above IGT for their Garganega and Merlot. The whites are simple and clean, with green apple and a bitter almond finish; the Merlot and Cabernet blends are soft, plummy and meant for drinking within two or three years. Nobody outside the province seeks these out, and most of the fruit still goes into Veneto IGT blends. It exists on paper more than on shelves.
