Colli Tortonesi DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
A broad DOC now defined by one grape: Timorasso, revived by Walter Massa in the 1980s and sold as 'Derthona' (Tortona's Latin name). Timorasso is a full-bodied white with the structure of a red: honey, quince, chamomile, petrol and beeswax with age, a waxy texture, high acid and a long saline finish, easily 10 years of life. The Barbera and Croatina reds are honest trattoria wines. Big Langhe names (Vietti, Roagna, Borgogno) have bought vineyards here, so prices are rising.
