Parrina DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
Effectively a single-estate DOC: the Tenuta La Parrina, a 19th-century farm on the southern Maremma coast, makes essentially all of it. Reds are sun-drenched Sangiovese with soft tannin, ripe cherry, dried fig and a salty coastal edge; the whites, especially the Ansonica, are fat, herbal and seaside-salty. Prices are fair and the wines are honest rather than ambitious, but it's one of Tuscany's oldest DOCs and a curiosity worth ticking off.
