Marzemino

A Trentino red grown on the gravel of the Vallagarina south of Trento, with soft tannin, moderate acid and a clear violet and dark plum perfume. It is made to be drunk young and cool, and it is one of the more charming wines of the north for exactly that reason.

Worth knowing

Don Giovanni calls for it by name in the second act of Mozart's opera, which every producer in the Vallagarina will mention before you have finished the first glass. It is the only grape in this list with a libretto credit.
