Lamezia DOC

A west-coast Calabrian DOC dominated by two family estates, Statti and Lento, that both export. The reds are softer and fruitier than Cirò: red plum, cherry, dried herbs and a gentle tannin from a blend where Gaglioppo shares space with Nero d'Avola and Magliocco. The whites are crisp Greco-based blends with citrus, pear and a saline note. Reliable, inexpensive and one of the easier Calabrian DOCs to actually taste in the US.
