Maremma Toscana DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
The province-wide DOC for the Tuscan coast south of Bolgheri, upgraded from IGT in 2011 and now one of Tuscany's largest by volume. It's a broad church: warm, generous Sangiovese and Cabernet-Merlot reds with plum, blackberry and scrub, a growing wave of Vermentino that is the region's best-value white (lemon, sage, saline), and native oddities like Ciliegiolo and Alicante. Expect ripeness and easy drinking more than structure, at 12 to 25 dollars.
Still hunting
I'm still looking for a bottle of this.
If you make Maremma Toscana, import it, or know who does, the form takes two minutes and I reply to every one.
