Terre di Cosenza DOC

An umbrella DOC that swallowed a cluster of tiny old appellations across Cosenza province, from the Pollino mountains to the Tyrrhenian coast. The grape to watch is Magliocco, which gives a mid-weight, fresh red with black cherry, plum, violet, pepper and a fine but present tannin, more polished than Gaglioppo. Whites from Pecorello and Greco are crisp and herbal. Serracavallo, high in the hills near Bisignano, is the estate that has made the case for the zone.
